What Are Multi-Vitamins?
Multivitamins are a man made supplement that are often taken as a dietary supplement to provide the patient with additional vitamins and minerals. Although multivitamins are usually found in tablet form, they can also be consumed in a liquid, capsule and injectable form.
Rather than an individual Vitamin, such as a Vitamin B tablet, multivitamins are when 3 or more Vitamins are combined into one compound. This means that these tablets are popular for a wide range of deficiencies, although there are higher potency individual minerals that can be store bought to help a certain deficiency.
Although there is some debate over the effectiveness of using multivitamins, they can be of benefit to individuals with a limited diet, for example one which lacks vegetables, which are naturally high in many of the different vitamins required by the body. There are many reasons why someone may not be able to supply their body with all of the nutrients it needs, such as financial reasons, their busy lifestyle or allergies to certain food types, but these can often be helped with a nutritional supplement alternative.
Some of the most popular forms of ingredients found in multis are:
- Vitamin B
- Folic Acid
- Vitamin A
- Vitamin C
These are some of the key nutrients required by the body on a daily basis to help with all aspects of staying healthy. People with allergies should also be wary of taking any tablets as they may contain traces of ingredient that can cause medical problems. Therefore, it is always advisable to seek medical advice before taking tablets of any kind.
