Is diet soda really bad for you?

It shouldn’t be a mystery that anything you put into your body will affect your health in one way or another. Most people focus on the food they eat, while drinking crap like diet soda and fake juice which can offset the healthy foods you’re eating. But today, I’m going to focus on diet soda, and why you should stop drinking it today.

The average American drinks about 2 liters of liquids every day. The problem with this is that most of those liquids are very bad for your body. Most people know (or at least think) that soda is bad for you, so they try to find a “loophole” by drinking diet soda, but diet soda isn’t any better for you, and it could actually be worse.

Diet soda is artificially sweetened, and there has been a tremendous amount of research showing artificial sweeteners (like Aspartame) can cause all kinds of serious health problems like migraine headaches, visual hallucinations, memory impairment, seizures, brain tumors and even cancer. A friend of mine used to always get dizzy and pass out for extended periods of time. His doctors couldn’t figure out what was causing his health problem, but they did think something serious was wrong. He stopped drinking diet soda and his symptoms cleared up overnight. Simply put, artificial sweetener is horrible for your health, and diet soda contains a lot of it.

I know it’s not always easy to break a habit that you’re addicted to, but there are ways to start drinking less diet soda until you’re completely done with it. Some people are addicted to sugar so they try drinking diet soda to they don’t consume as much real sugar. But instead of drinking a diet soda, pour a glass of Minute Maid juice instead. Minute Maid makes very good and healthy fruit juice mixtures in all flavors. Even though their juice does contain sugar, it has a lot less sugar than a can of soda. You can give yourself less and less sugar per serving by mixing the juice with water until you’re able to drink pure fruit juice without sugar.

If you’re drinking diet soda because you want to lose weight, you might be doing more harm than good. There is something in diet soda that changes your brain chemistry and metabolism. These changes can actually cause you to gain more weight from drinking diet soda as opposed to regular soda. This is because your taste buds know you’re putting something sweet in your body, but there are no calories to go along with it. This causes your brain to crave other sweets that contain calories, leading to over-eating and weight gain.

Diet soda doesn’t contain anything beneficial to your body at all, which means it only causes harm. If you’re serious about being healthy and losing weight, it’s important to drink healthy just as much as it is to eat healthy. Water, juice and tea should be your main sources of liquid nutrition, and you should strive to drink as much of them as possible every day, while cutting out the bad stuff like diet soda.
